About the artwork
In this piece, a sawmill is represented in its felling cycles until its use for construction. This scene has been conceived as a metaphor for human society in the future, a society regulated by political, economic and moral systems, which relegates the human to a secondary plane. Its eagerness for a functional living affects both human and nature. This work, although it departed from an emotional impulse of Capaz’s, was completed days before the 2019 Amazon fires, an anecdote thanks to which its environmental discourse becomes even more evident.
