About the artwork
This work’s title was inspired by Dante's Inferno’s first verse: “Nel mezzo del cammin di nostra vita / mi ritrovai per una selva oscura / ché la retta via era smarrita” (which could be translated in modern times as: I had a mid-life crisis and felt that I had lost my way). It questions the fear of death (the latter being, in my opinion, a potential friend), even in the case of whom, during life, only caused pain to others.
