About the artwork
The drawings in this series are based on the ancient Greeks’ myth of Sisyphus. They reformulate in compositional essays the absurdity of a violent and purposeless life, where self-inflicted pain winds up being the suffering and misery of others. Rapes, murders, abuses, torture and mutilated bodies swing from life to death, from passion to alienation, from the esthetical to the narrative and the poetic as well, of course, just like in Sisyphus, who was forced to eternally roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll down every time it neared the top.
