What is a Sound Drawing?
A Sound Drawing is a unique pairing of images and sound. The image acts as a visual index to the recorded sound and together they form an archive record in the collectors' audio-visual archives.
How many Sound Drawing will be created?
A total of 2,000 unique Sound Drawings will be created. About 200 sets of Sound Drawings will be created with approximately 10 Sound Drawings within each set. Sounds Drawings within a set are unique visual / sound variations of a specific Sound Drawing.
How can I use my Sound Drawings?
Sound Drawings can be experienced on their own at Snark.art as a unique artwork. They can also be used within a visual player to create sonic compositions.
Can anybody else use my Sound Drawings?
One of the goals of 'Sometimes a Thousand Twangling Instruments' is to create a collective experience by allowing its collectors to share access to their Sound Drawings between each other in order to create sonic compositions.
While we don't expect everyone to participate, the creation of sophisticated visual sonic compositions using shared Sound Drawings should create a compelling, ever-shifting experience for the audience. Collectors will, by default, opt into automatically sharing their Sound Drawings upon request; however owners may opt out of such sharing at any time.
How can I buy a Sound Drawing?
Collectors can purchase Sound Drawings using credit card or cryptocurrency during the initial offering. Once the Sound Drawings have been distributed to collectors, it will be possible to purchase Sound Drawings from individual collectors at a price that is agreed upon by both parties.
How can I sell or transfer my Sound Drawing to somebody else?
Marketplace at Snark.art will allow all collectors to sell their Sound Drawings. And Sound Drawings can also be transferred from one digital wallet to another at any time. Collectors can also use a 3rd party exchange (ex. OpenSea) to trade or transfer their Sound Drawings.
Can I buy/sell a Sound Drawing on other ERC-721 marketplaces?
Yes. As the owner of the Sound Drawing, you have the right to trade Sound Drawings on other exchanges that support ERC-721 tokens, such as OpenSea. While these sales are platform-agnostic, owners will need to use the Snark.art platform to view and use their Sound Drawings.
Where are the Sound Drawings stored?
The original content of the Sound Drawings, which includes a PNG image in 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 48khz/24-bit stereo sound file in AIF format, will be stored on an IPFS decentralized storage.
Who can use the visual player to create a sonic composition?
While the public will be able to try the visual player using a limited number of Sound Drawings made available by the Artist, the experience of using the entire library of shared Sound Drawings will be limited to Sound Drawing collectors.
How does the player works exactly?
Collectors can add, move, and resize individual Sound Drawings on the digital canvas of the player. Resizing an individual Sound Drawing will impact its pitch, while its vertical position on the canvas will impact their level within the composition. Sound Drawings can be overlayed over one another and the needle will interpret the composite sound during play.
Can I save my sonic composition?
Only Sound Drawing owners will be able to save their sonic compositions.
Can I mint a token with my sonic composition?
We plan to allow tokenization of the sonic compositions in the future. We anticipate that any revenue from the sale of such compositions would be divided among the owners of the Sound Drawings used to create the composition along with the creator.
Why can’t I see all Sound Drawings in my player?
Only Sound Drawings that have been sold during the primary sale and shared by their collectors will be made available within the player to Sound Drawing owners. To the general public with a Sound Drawing only a limited number of Sound Drawings belonging to the artist will be available to create a sonic composition.
